BACKSTORY

Born in 325 with the ancient Vulcan name Mes-tor Ye-halek, Mestral was one of the many descendants of Admiral Debrune. As a member of the house of Debrune, Mestral was expected to serve in the Navy to protect their people. From childhood, Mestral knew they had a huge responsibility to their people. In every aspect, they were the perfect child.Ironically, Mestral ended up attending the Romulan War College under the alias Mestral t'Asenth at the age of 20. The name 'Mestral' was a Romulanisation of the ancient Vulcan name, a fitting alias. The Romulans had superior battle tactics and the Debrune had superior tech. They hoped that by sending Mestral posed as a Romulan, they could better understand the Romulan's secrets. At the time, Debrune and Rihannsu were similar enough that all Mestral had to learn was the accent.Life at the Ancient Romulan War CollegeMestral learned a lot about Romulan society during their time at the College. They chose to go into tactical as that was their mission; to gain knowledge on Romulan battle tactics. Mestral kept their head down and focused on their studies, being careful not to make too many connections for fear of their true identity being found out.Serving the Ancient Star EmpireMestral served the Star Empire, still undercover, and slowly rose through the ranks. They did not have a particularly illustrious military career, but they were well respected by their peers up until their 'mysterious' disappearance in 360.Mestral was called back to the Debrune to help with defending their last outpost on Barradas III. Unfortunately, their efforts were not good enough and they retreated to the catacomb complex to enter stasis in hopes of returning once their enemies had worn themselves out...ResurrectionIn the 24th century, the Romulans rediscovered the Debrune's ancient cities on Barradas III and were hoping to obtain some of their ancient weapons to use for themselves. Their efforts failed thanks to the intervention by Starfleet who fought off the Romulans and handed over all Debrune artifacts to the Vulcans.With Barradas III under the watchful eyes of Starfleet and the Vulcans, the researchers continued to work to learn more about the secrets of the ancient peoples. In 2409 a joint team of Romulan Republic and Starfleet researchers resumed the excavation of the ruins on Barradas III and uncovered the 'sleeping' Debrune. Assumed to be dead, the bodies were brought aboard the Republic science vessel for closer examination. To the researcher's surprise, one of the individuals woke up -- Mestral. Shocked and confused, Mestral frantically tried to fight off the researchers. It took an entire team of both Starfleet and Republic officers to subdue them and explain what had happened in the last 2000 years.Mestral went through four years of training and re-integration into Romulan society. The Republic happily welcomed them into their ranks as they found great merit in having an expert in ancient Debrune tech. In 2414, Mestral was posted on the RRW Tenakruvek as a hoplologist -- specifically an expert in Debrune technology.
